Review: Santé Granola
I recently got the opportunity to review and share with you, my wonderful readers, a really fantastic product! Santé Bakery, located in New York, NY (for those of you lucky enough to be able to visit), a place really dedicated to the environment and bringing good health to their customers. From their website:
“Santé” – in French literally means “health”. Our goal is to fill your life with all of the health benefits Mother Earth has to offer.
They use only local and organic ingredients, and their packaging is made from recycled materials and vegetable derived ink. Neat! Not all of their products are vegan, but a good deal of them are (my eye is on the spinach and mushroom piroshki and the vegan almond butter cookies!), including the granola! So many granolas are sweetened with honey, so this is a really awesome find.
First up is the NutSeed Granola. Chock full of raw and roasted nuts and seeds (like, seriously, so many of both) and dotted here and there with raisins and coconut flakes, this stuff is all about being seriously delicious. It’s sweet, but not cloyingly so, with just a touch of turbinado sugar and maple syrup.
Just a small portion for breakfast is perfectly satisfying with a splash of almond milk, but I can imagine carrying this around in my bag and snacking on it throughout the day as well, perfect for an afternoon or mid morning pick-me-up! Definitely check it out, guys. It’s magnificent.
Next up is the Antioxidant Granola! I will admit that I took my first bite of this immediately after eating the NutSeed Granola and that my first impression was, ‘Oh! This tastes way healthier!’ Which, you guys know, is not a bad thing! So maybe the NutSeed is your Monday morning ‘I need a boost to get through my day’ granola and the Antioxidant is your Saturday morning ‘Oops, I partied too hard’ granola. Both are tremendously delicious, but definitely different! I had never before eaten goji berries or mulberries, but they lend a touch of a sour note, while the raisins, turbinado, and maple syrup balance with a teensy bit of sweet. Still totally hearty with the oats, almonds and cashews, I found it all to have an overall really earthy feel. Like this is the granola my mom ate in the 70’s. My (not so inner) inner hippie loves this stuff!
